HISTORY

“We were all someone before we were chosen”

Bunnymund has existed for a very, very long time. His people, the Pookas, came to Earth during the Golden Age; an ancient time when Constellations ruled the universe, bringing with them the light from the start of creation, believing the people of the Golden Age were able to wield it properly. Unfortunately for them, a solider named Kozmotis Pitchiner was overcome by the darkness he once guarded, and became Pitch, the boogeyman. Pitch destroyed the Pookas, leaving Bunnymund as the sole survivor, the only one left to guard the light and protect the cycle of life on Earth.

Understandably, Bunny isolated himself from the world. He continued to bring about Spring, and watch quietly over time and the world as a whole, but he refused to get involved in the 'affairs of man' ever again. He did a few cool things, like change the shape of the Earth from an egg to a sphere in order to stop it from careering into the sun, and as such created a few continents as he did so; his favourite being Australia under which the steadily crumbling Pooka civilisation: 'The Warren' is located. He lived there, creating his little eggs and generally being That Creepy Loner Guy with an egg obsession.

Eventually North (Santa) and Katherine (Mother Goose) found him and sought his help in saving a group of children and getting closer to defeating Pitch. He initially refused, before Katherine convinced him otherwise. There was an epic battle and he became a Guardian (more specifically, the Guardian of Hope), chosen by and sworn under the Man in the Moon to protect the children of Earth for all eternity.

At some point, during the Dark Ages, the Guardians were able to defeat Pitch, they presumed forever. Cut to a few centuries later, in modern day. Bunny's relaxed somewhat, settled into his role as the Easter Bunny, as his fellow Guardians have settled into their roles. All is good in the world, so obviously that was doomed to go right down the pan. Pitch became a threat once again, this time taking control of the Sandman's dream sand and using it to create nightmares, filling children's nights with fear. He systematically destroyed childhood belief in the Guardians, destroying Easter altogether much to Bunny's utter remorse. But thanks to Jack Frost, the children and the Guardians were saved, Pitch was dragged back to his realm and all was good!

PERSONALITY

“Oh he's real, alright. Real annoying, real grumpy, and really full of himself”

The first impression you get of Bunny is that he is not a people rabbit. He spends much of his time in the Warren, maintaining the cycle of life and bringing Easter to the children of the world. He's irritable, and hard to get close to. He's quick to anger, the slightest jab being able to send him into a hopping rage (ba-dum-tush). He's spent many millennia alone, so he doesn't exactly have the best people skills.

But, as North points out, all Guardians have many layers, and Bunny is no exception. Once you get past the loner with anger issues, past the conceit, and past the occasional hurtful and very snarky demeanour, you come to Bunny's center. The thing that makes him the Easter Bunny, the thing he brings and protects to all the children of the world. The thing within every child he would die to defend.

Hope.

Bunny is a creature of great hope. His purpose in the world, even before he became a Guardian revolves around it. After all, with his past, he knows exactly what it's like to have none. Allowing others, especially children, to sink to the level he once did is unacceptable for him. He brings this hope into the world along with spring, new life, the hope for a better tomorrow. Very little will keep him down. He'll just keep picking himself up from the ground no matter what. Even when it seems his center is extinguished by Pitch's plans, hope eventually returns to him. And as such, returns to the children.

On the children. Bunny will protect them with his life, if they believe in him or not. It's only until recently, however, that he's learned how to interact with children. He's a busy rabbit, and actually spending time with children is something he's never devoted himself to. Thanks to Jack's meddling, he formed a bond with Jamie's little sister, Sophie, and learned that he really could just relax and enjoy being in the company of youngsters once in a while. He's devoted his life to children...but now he's learning how to devote his time to children, too.

The other Guardians are the only other beings who he spends any time with, and even then, it's often briefly. He just doesn't have the time to spend enjoying the magic of friendship and all that jazz. His holiday revolves around perishables in the first place (his beloved, flower-grown 'googies' being Easter Eggs) and on top of that, he needs to spend time on Earth making sure the seasons are running as they should. It's a hard job, being the Easter Bunny. Regardless, he cares for them deeply, as they are the only family he has left. If it's enjoying the quiet, gentle company of Tooth and Sandy, or having gentle spats with North and Jack, they mean the world to him, and he'd do anything for them.

POWERS

“I think my tunnels might be faster, mate. And safer”

As a Guardian, Bunnymund's power is directly linked to how many people (especially children) believe in him, so if there aren't a lot of believers around, his powers are less effective, and grow in strength as he gains believers. All of these are, of course, null and void in Asgard. Sure sucks for him.

TELEPORTATION TUNNELS - With a tap of his foot, Bunnymund can create a tunnel which takes him wherever he wants to go in mere moments. On Earth, he uses these complex tunnel systems to deliver eggs everywhere in the world for Easter, but they can be used as quick transport on other days, too. The hole can be vary in size, and when it closes up, it leaves a flower behind.

BOOMERANGS - Bunnymund has a pair of boomerangs (one with a serrated curve, the other without) which are his primary weapons. He can throw them with great accuracy and they will always return to him. They cause considerably more damage than average boomerangs would.

EGG BOMBS - Just what it says on the package, egg bombs which when thrown, explode in great colour and pain HIS LOSS SO NOT APPLICABLE IN PARADISA

SUPER SPEED - Bunnymund can move very quickly, especially when he runs on all fours. He's quick enough to just become a blur of motion.

PLANT GROWTH - As the bringer of Spring, Bunny can make plants grow. Especially pretty little spring flowers, because he's manly as hell.

OTHER - Obviously, Bunnymund has certain rabbit attributes, so he has a good sense of hearing and smell. He's also skilled in martial arts (especially t'ai chi) though he prefers to remain a ranged fighter over getting up close and personal.

...There's also a lot of weird shit that happens to him when he eats chocolate but let's just ignore that for now because the books be crazy and there's a good chance that would have been retconned in the centuries time gap between the books and film. He also has egg warriors, but as he has to be able to connect with his realm to summon them, they'll be remaining where they are. Also bunnycopter
